What is KULU?

Since 1976, we have actively worked for the rights of women and girls worldwide. KULU is part of the international women’s movement, formed by Danish women’s organizations in the wake of the UN’s first international women’s conference in Mexico, 1975.

What does KULU do?

KULU – Women and Development collaborates with women’s networks in Africa, Asia, and Latin America for a just and sustainable world, where women have access to resources and influence in their societies, and the right to control their own bodies and lives.

13,000 women and girls in Mali

have received documentation of their rights and access to schooling.

Local Partnerships

A broad collaboration with networks and organizations in local areas.

Public Advocacy

We inform and contribute to a deeper understanding of public issues.

Our campaigns

Support our current initiatives and help make a lasting difference for women and girls globally.

We are part of the We-Empower campaign, which empowers migrant women and gender-nonconforming individuals to actively participate in European life through education and communities.

KULU’s COPgendered project aims to educate individuals, groups, and adult educators on the link between women’s rights, gender, and climate change.

The Youth Ambassadors is a partnership between KULU and the Danish UNA (United Nations Association) – aiming to promote the UN’s Beijing Declaration. Young volunteer ambassadors lead the project.

Through the “Give a Girl Her Rights” campaign, KULU has helped more than 13,000 women and girls in Mali since 2008 to obtain their right to an education and official identity papers.
